Around 100 specialists at Tesla Motor's under development battery manufacturing plant close Reno, Nevada, quit working Monday to challenge utilization of workers from different states, a union authority said.
Neighborhood work pioneers are vexed that Tesla temporary worker Brycon Corp. is acquiring specialists from Arizona and New Mexico, said Todd Koch, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Northern Nevada.
"It's a slap in the face to Nevada specialists to stroll through the parking area at the occupation site and see all these tags from Arizona and New Mexico," Koch said in a meeting. The individuals who exited were among the hundreds on the site, he said.
Development work at the $5 billion, 10-million-square-foot processing plant has been continuing in front of timetable. Tesla said in a messaged proclamation that the nonunion temporary worker included in the debate Monday, which it didn't recognize by name, is utilizing more than 50 percent Nevada specialists and that more than 75 percent of the production line workforce is inhabitants of that state.
